History

Eastnine was called East Capital Explorer until May 2017. The company was founded and listed by East Capital in 2007, as a way of providing liquid exposure toward otherwise difficult-to-access markets in Eastern Europe by investing in a diversified portfolio composed mainly of East Capital's funds, but also in select private equity investments. The portfolio was managed in its entirety by East Capital, up until the spring of 2016. Today Eastnine is focused on investing in modern and sustainable office properties in the Baltics and Poland.

From investment company to real estate company

As the market evolved, significant changes took place at Eastnine as well. Starting in 2013, the strategy evolved from funds with holdings in public companies, to directly owning unlisted companies and properties. In 2016, the previous management agreement was terminated, transferring management over to Eastnine. The decision was taken in the beginning of 2017 to become a focused real-estate company, which was a natural conclusion to these changes. Investments that were not directly-owned real estate have gradually been divested, and the capital thus freed up has been invested into properties in the Baltics and Poland.
